SIGNE FOREST, ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND SUSTAINABILITY
Signe Foundation sponsors 500 trees in the “Empty Spain” to fight climate change
At Fundación Signe, we firmly believe in our shared responsibility to protect the planet and in the power of concrete actions to generate a positive impact. For this reason, we have sponsored 500 trees in the town of Arancón, in the province of Soria, with the aim of contributing to the fight against climate change and supporting the social and economic revitalization of rural areas.
A commitment to sustainability
The new forested area, made up of Juniperus thurifera and Juniperus communis —native species that integrate naturally into the local ecosystem and are less prone to fire than other introduced varieties— will absorb 14 tons of CO₂ over the next 40 years. This forest not only helps mitigate the effects of climate change and deforestation, but also transforms agricultural land into spaces of biodiversity and life.
Social impact in the “Empty Spain”
The choice of Soria is no coincidence: this province, one of the most affected by rural depopulation, benefits greatly from projects that help retain population and create sustainable employment.
Thanks to this initiative, over 70 hours of work have been created for local people at risk of social exclusion, reinforcing the dual purpose of this action: to protect the environment and support vulnerable communities.
An alliance for the future
This project has been carried out in collaboration with CO₂ Gestión, a company specialized in developing environmental and social reforestation projects. As its representatives highlight, such initiatives not only help slow down climate change but also promote new productive opportunities in rural areas — such as truffle cultivation, sustainable timber production, and stone pine planting.
At Fundación Signe, we share this vision and celebrate the commitment of all those who, through constant effort and dedication, make it possible for rural territories to find a greener, more inclusive, and more sustainable future.
With this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to continue supporting projects that unite sustainability and social development, because we are convinced that only through alliances and collective effort can we build a better planet for everyone.
